Importance: and Challenges: Cuban Missile Crisis -JFK stopped the closest thing to World War III because Russia was sending nuclear weapons and missiles to Cuba. Kennedy messaged Premier Khrushchev (the leader of Russia) and told him to get all weapons out of Cuba. Khrushchev not only took all the missiles out but took the planes and troops as well. Bay Of Pigs: The 1961 Bay of Pigs Invasion was an unsuccessful attempted invasion by armed Cuban exiles in southwest Cuba, planned and funded by the United States, in an attempt to overthrow the government of Fidel Castro. People hold John F. Kennedy responsible for all of the Cuban’s deaths.
